The Lavender Line
On Sunday 28th and Monday 29th August the Lavender line held its first Goods train days for a number of years. On both the Sunday and Monday ‘Austin 1’ was in steam running on the south end of the four piece goods train allowing visitors to enjoy a unique view of the Sussex countryside from our resident Toad brake van.
Due to the overwhelming popularity with these goods train days we have taken the decision to run the ‘Lewes pick up goods’ on a more regular bases. With plans to run heavy goods, engineering and mixed goods trains there will be more opportunities than ever to enjoy a rural freight train travelling through the open countryside.
These dates will be announced at the beginning of 2012 with a selection of other new and exciting special events to accompany the 2012 calendar including our resident steam engine ‘Austin 1’s 80th Birthday!
