The Lavender Line
We are very sad to say that one of the Lavender lines life long members of the railway passed away on the morning of Monday 2nd December.
Rod has been with the Lavender line since the very early days including helping to build the foundations to what the railway has become today. He took on many different roles over the years including running the model railway, taking on roles in the lavender lines committee, organising Christmas at Isfield specials and of course what he is most well known for, running the ticket office on open days. Rod spent a lot of time at the Lavender line over the years and you would quite often see him every Sunday either running the booking office or organising things around the site.
Rodney will be greatly missed by the working members of the Lavender line as his witty ways and jokes always added something extra for the staff and although Rod knew he was not well for some time he still managed to work at the Lavender line even up to the day before he passed away.
As a sign of respect for Rodney this weekend our service trains will be carrying a reef on the front of engines instead of our usual Santa special board.
