The Lavender Line
We are very pleased to announce that the Lavender lines latest addition to its steam fleet has arrived safe and sound on the afternoon of Saturday 25th January. ‘Yvonne’ made her journey from Hollycombe around midday and arrived at Isfield late afternoon. The railway resident shunter Planet helped with the unloading of the engine and after a travel assessment she was pushed into the shed taking place with her new stable mate Austin 1.
We are currently in the process of arranging ‘Yvonne’ running days for the steam season with crew training taking place in February ready for the steaming dates. ‘Yvonne’ is a very unique 0-4-0 VBT Belgium steam engine that spent most of her working life in Brussels gas works as a yard shunter. ‘Yvonne’ is the only working VBT Cockerill engine in the country and with just a year left on her current boiler ticket she will certainly be used on operating days as well as alongside our resident steam engine Austin 1.
Keep an eye out on our website and calendar for ‘Yvonne’ steam days including steam days shared with Austin 1.
