The Lavender Line
On Saturday 15th March the railways latest addition to the loco fleet 0-4-0 VBT Yvonne was steamed for her final steam test which enabled remaining crews and members to experience the unique Belgium Vertical loco in its full glory.
After being lit from cold at 0900 a full debrief for the drivers and fireman with lighting up procedures was enrolled then Yvonne quietly made her way up and down the shed road in preparation for the crews which included buffering up procedures and heavier loads. Yvonne is now passed fit to run on the railway with more crews to be passed out on driver her in due course. Yvonne will be in steam on plenty of occasions this year which will ensure her owner and the railway benefits from the final year of her 10 year boiler ticket where she will be stripped and overhauled at the end of the year, until then we have some great plans for her including top and tailing with our resident steam engine Austin 1 and providing service trains alongside our home fleet of diesels.
Yvonne will be in steam next on Sunday 6th April where she will be taking part in her very first public appearance at the Lavender line and to celebrate this special occasion she will be in steam alongside Austin 1 providing both brake van rides from platform 1 and full length trips from platform 2.
Why not head to the Lavender line on Sunday 6th April and see this unique steam engine, she is the only working VBT 0-4-0 Cockerill loco working in the UK so come and enjoy a few trips behind her with parallel departures alongside Austin 1, full length trips and cab rides!
Normal prices apply on Sunday 6th April
Yvonne will also be in steam on Good Friday alongside one of our resident diesels where she will be giving full length trips. For more information on Yvonne’s running days keep and eye out on the latest news and special events page.
