The Lavender Line
We are very excited to announce that we will be hosting two extra special events for 2014. Over the Mayday bank holiday weekend and the end of May bank holiday weekend as we showcase a unique steam experience in the form of top and tailed trains with two steam engines!
Our resident steam engine ‘Austin 1’ and newly arrived Belgium VBT ‘Yvonne’ will be the stars of the performance over the two bank holiday weekends as they top and tail the service train from platform 2. This is a great opportunity to whiteness a unique looking steam engine share its performance as ‘Yvonne’ teams up with ‘Austin 1’ and provide a half hourly timetabled service between Isfield and Worth halt. Top and tail trains means a steam engine will be on either end of the coaches, ‘Yvonne’ will be at the north end of the train taking charge pulling out the station whilst ‘Austin 1’ sits back and lets her take the strain as they make their way to Worth halt. On the return trip to Isfield ‘Austin 1’ takes over providing power and ‘Yvonne’ will be hauled along with the carriages back to Isfield.
This is the perfect chance to see ‘Yvonne’ in full action, expect plenty of noise as she climbs with a heavy load to Worth halt and enjoy the slights and sounds of Britain’s only working Belgium VBT Cockerill steam engine.
This event will be held over the weekend of Sunday 4th and Bank holiday Monday 5th May as well as Sunday 25th May and Bank holiday Monday 26th May.
