The Lavender Line
Join us for this new event of 2014 as we partner both steam diesel and Thumper together in this one day gala. Thumper unit 1133 will be showing off her newly resorted Southern green livery as she rolls out the shed for the first time since receiving the last section of restoration on the power car unit and to celebrate this fantastic news 1133 will be joined by both of the railways steam engines ‘Austin 1’ and ‘Yvonne’ as they team up to provide a second train alongside 1133.
There will be parallel running alongside DEMU Thumper 1133 with ‘Yvonne’ giving you a unique picture of one of the finest examples of a Berkshire Thumper unit. Expect an intensive timetable with parallel departures, plenty of steam and lots of English Electric noise! ‘Austin 1’ will be taking charge of the second passenger train from platform 1 on an alternating departure alongside the Thumper.
This event is for both the family and enthusiast, come and experience simultaneous departures with steam and diesel, something you can’t whiteness at many other railways. There will be an intensive timetable from 10.00 till 17.00 with trains running on the hour and half hour. Worth halt will be open for walks and for that perfect trackside photograph between Worth halt and the foot crossing.
There is a hope our resident 0-4-0DM Andrew Barclay diesel will be making its first appearance at a gala this years and it is hoped she will be joining in on the action throughout the day, more information on the Barclay running nearer the time.
This is one event you don’t want to miss, its going to be a cracker!
