The Lavender Line
With 5 weeks to go until the railways first gala of the year we are making final arrangements to ensure the day goes smoothly with plenty of action!
We are delighted to confirm that the railways resident steam engine 0-6-0ST Kitson ‘Austin 1’ will be joining both 0-4-0VBT ‘Yvonne’ and newly restored Thumper unit 1133 as the three of them provide a gala atmosphere for the day with trains from all three platforms. 1133 will be the star of the show as we officially launch her into public service. There is a number of final private tests to be carried out with the Thumper but she is on track to stun visitors as she shows off her new Southern Green livery.
0-4-0VBT Cockerill ‘Yvonne’ will be on brake van duties from the dock platform located next to platform 1 whilst 0-6-0ST Kitson ‘Austin 1’ forms the public service on platform 1 with the Thumper unit forming on platform 2. Every time a train departs either platform 1 or 2 ‘Yvonne’ will depart from the dock platform and parallel alongside as far as the bridge, the perfect way to grab that unique photo of either ‘Austin 1’ or the Thumper.
More details of this event including prices and timings will be available closer to the event but this is going to be some event, from families to enthusiasts, steam to diesel there’s something here for everyone.
