The Lavender Line
With only a week to go until the celebrations begin; final preparations are taking place at Isfield station to ensure everything runs smoothly for both weekends. We now have a fantastic selection of vehicles due to arrive at the lavender line within the next week, classic cars, fire engines, military vehicles, tractors and steam rollers are just a select few of visiting vehicles expected to display at Isfield to represent all ages of transport.
Car parking: Any visitors for the event will be ushered into a parking field just behind the laughing fish pub at free of charge; the entrance to this field is to the left hand side of the laughing fish pub.
Additional attractions: On Saturday 1st there will be the opportunity to see how a steam engine is prepared and lit when our resident steam engine ‘Austin 1’ will be brought into light steam ready for the next day. This will take place in the dock by the car park at 14.00.
Over both weekends a beer tent will be situated in the field by platform 2 offering a full range of tasty real ales and lagers.
On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th a virtual simulation will be on display in our museum coach for anyone to try their hand at driver simulations, ranging from express passenger services to complex shunting movements.
Over both weekends there will be parallel departures throughout the day giving you the opportunity to get up close and personal with ‘Rocket’ whilst it’s moving!
