The Lavender Line
We are extremely excited to announce the second part of our good news involving DEMU Thumper 1118. This beautiful Class 205 will now be staying in residence at the Lavender line for the foreseeable future as an agreement has been reach with her owner. This will mean the Lavender line will now have TWO Class 205 Thumper’s as part of the fleet which will enable visitors to enjoy double the action alongside resident unit 1133.
Some have questioned, why another unit at the Lavender Line, considering the line is only just over 1 mile long. Well, it’s not all about the size and here at the Lavender Line we are immensely proud of what we have achieved over the past 25 years as a society. We can offer a different and unique view of all our trains with great photography positions alongside our car park and rural positions at Worth halt. Having 1118 will give enthusiasts the chance to enjoy two Thumper’s working side by side on a number of different occasions, plus being a smaller site gives us the opportunity to run intensive services with added twists. There’s not many railway’s which can enjoy arrivals and departures at the same time!
Our three day Diesel Gala which will run from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July will involve both Thumpers and the railway’s home fleet of Diesel’s. We also have some very exciting plans for our ‘Thumper Friday’ which will be taking place on the first of our three day event. More details will be announced of ‘Thumper Friday’ but what you can expect is, intensive double Thumper running, parallel departures, arrivals and departures simultaneously from both platforms 1 and 2 plus the joining of both 1133 and 1118!
This is going to be a very exciting year for the Lavender Line, with the arrival of 1118 and the continuing services of our very own Thumper 1133, you can expect some very interesting and enjoyable events which are set to come.
Keep an eye out for more news and details on our three day Diesel Gala which is set to take place between Friday 22nd and Sunday 24th July
