The Lavender Line
We are pleased to announce that we will be running an extra steam day in March which will be on Sunday 19th march. This means there will be two steam dates in March, mothers day and our first goods train day on Sunday 25th March, two fantastic opportunities to sample the delights on the Lavender line preserved railway.
March is one of those unique months whereby it can be very cold or very warm, with our resident rolling stock we can offer comfort in both extremes, our 108 coach has just undergone a full overhaul ready to provide you with a warm reception with its new onboard heaters, or for the hot days our resident toad brake van where you can enjoy the bygone years and fresh air from within the unique viewing point.
Why not take advantage of our mother’s day special, every mum goes free with unlimited steam train rides throughout the day, the prefect way to treat mum to an afternoon out in the beautiful Sussex countryside. If mum’s really adventurous why not treat her to a footplate taster, for just £5.00 you can ride on the footplate of the steam engine with the driver and fireman for one whole trip and soak up the working atmosphere of a real steam engine.
All throughout March you will be able to see how the railway new station is coming along at the end of the line. ‘Worth halt’ is set to be open early summer so why not take a trip up the line and see how the Wednesday gang have done building this brand new halt from scratch. Once opened this new halt will provide you with the opportunity to alight at the end of the line and enjoy one of the most peaceful areas of the county, with a new picnic area on the way and fencing to the public footpath this will allow you to enjoy a picnic then take a stroll across the marked public footpath towards Worth woods. For more information about this new project please don’t hesitate to contact us and keep an eye on the latest news for more information about this exciting new addition to the railway.
