The Lavender Line
On Sunday 6th and Monday 7th May we will be hosting our ever popular goods train’s days to show you the variety in railway travel. Our Toad brake van will be in operation in the goods set with a chance to sample the beautiful Sussex views.
With all this miserable wet weather we have had why not treat the family to a day out at the Lavender line, our goods trains are always very popular with the kids as it offers an unusual experience aboard a steam train. If the weather does turn out to be wet and windy our toad brake van hosts a warming coal stove, but if the weather does hold out the balcony of the brake van allows you to enjoy the outdoor experience on the train.
The first train of the day will depart platform 2 at 11.00 and will run on the hour and half hour until 4.30. Why not take the chance to ride with the driver and fireman on board on the footplate with out footplate tasters, for just £5.00 you can enjoy a full round trip on the footplate and really get up close with a full size steam engine.
Weather permitting our miniature railway on platform 2 “Riley’s railway” will be in operation offering train rides throughout the day, all money raised goes towards charity and a very good cause so why not take a trip on Riley’s railway too.
Austin 1 our resident steam engine will be commanding the goods trains on both days, this beautiful 0-6-0 saddle tank has recently been restored at the Llangollen railway in Wales and she can regularly be seen in steam the Isfield.
