The Lavender Line
Over the weekend of 3rd and 4th June we too enjoyed celebrating the Queens diamond jubilee at the Lavender line. Events were held up and down the country to mark 60 years of the Queen’s reign and even Isfield carried out its own celebrations over the weekend. On Sunday 3rd our resident diesel Valiant was in action paired with out newly restored toad brake van, toad was given a full jubilee makeover with bunting and union flags flying from every corner. On Monday 4th our resident steam engine Austin 1 was in steam providing brake van rides for the entire length of the line in which she too was decorated appropriately for the celebrations. The village of Isfield itself has always been a very patriotic place and this was proven with parties conjoined with the laughing fish pub and the lavender line, both joined together for the celebrations with a grand finale of Isfield Lighting its very own massive beacon!
Our diesel gala is only 4 weeks away and preparations are in full swing. With operations gathering the final pieces of information ready for the gala weekend it is certainly proving to become yet another highlight of the lavender lines calendar. Up to 4 engines are expected to be in use from our resident thumper unit 1133 to our defiant shunter Planet number 15. This is certainly not going to be a weekend to miss so keep and eye our for final details on the gala weekend over the oncoming week.
