The Lavender Line
We have made some slight adjustments to our goods trains events for the remainder of the year which will ensure you can enjoy a close encounter of a steam engine. Due to many of our goods wagons being taken out of service for essential maintenance we are unable to carry out a full goods train for the rest of the year, but we have not given up on the event and we have come up with a very unique compromise.
The usual way you would enjoy the slights and sounds of a preserved railway would be within the comfort of the mark 1 carriages, with comfy seats and large windows. We are offering you and your family the opportunity to enjoy both the comfort of the carriage and the rustic appeal of the toad brake van as we join the two together for this different approach towards railway travel. Austin 1 will be taking charge of the train with an additional experience as the steam engine will be just a few feet from the toad brake van allowing you to really get close to the loco and take in the slights, smells and sounds of this real workhorse.
Our goods wagons are currently under going restoration which is expected to be complete by the spring, this has been brought forward by a few months to ensure the wagons will be fit and safe to use before the new goods train dates next year, the goods trains will also be joined next year by newly painted and vac piped tanker.
So why not join us on Sunday 30th September and Sunday 28th October for what promises to be a unique experience. Take a trip to Worth halt and enjoy a picnic in the autumnal weather or even enjoy a lengthy walk in the local woodlands from Worth halt.
Normal ticket prices apply, Isfield station will be open from 8.30 for breakfasts, first train departs Isfield at 10.30, last train departs Isfield at 4.30 and last train from Worth halt departs at 4.45.
