The Lavender Line
We are very pleased to announce that we will be hosting our annual winters new years day steam up on Tuesday 1st January.
Our new years day steam up has been an annual event for the past 7 years and has become the biggest non organised event at the railway. Every year all sorts of vehicles gather at Isfield station on new years day ranging from cars to traction engines which are displayed in the railways car park, if you have a vehicle you would like to display on new years day just turn up, there’s plenty of room and the more the merrier!
Austin 1 will be in steam hauling the half hourly service from platform 2 whilst any visiting vehicles will be on display throughout the day in the railways car park. Over the years we have had world war two lorries, vintage buses, vintage cars, vintage motorcycles and even a few traction engines. Although vehicles cannot be guaranteed at this event due to weather related issues what is guaranteed is a fantastic day out with unlimited steam train rides available throughout the day, plus the atmosphere of a cosy Victorian station allowing you to picture what it would have been like on a cold crisp winters day at a rural country station.
Latest - 11.30am onwards we welcome our local Morris Dancers.
Why not kick off the New Year with a visit to the Lavender line, warm open fires, unlimited train rides, historic atmosphere, countryside walks from Worth halt, all available at the Lavender line on new years day.
