The Lavender Line
For the next month or so our resident 0-6-0DH ‘Valiant’ will been taken out of traffic following a starter motor failure when she was set to be used last week on a service train. The work itself is not a major job but will involve some minor alterations and work towards the starter motor which will bring the loco back into traffic. The Ruston will be out of traffic for the rest of March and a few weeks into April to ensure the loco is fully up to standard and fit to run service trains once again.
As the Ruston will be out of traffic and our privately owned Wickham Railbus due to be taken out of traffic very soon as well for yearly repairs we have been called upon to bring the Lavender lines 0-4-0DM Planet shunter out of retirement to provide the diesel services during April. Planet was once the Lavender lines only working diesel and once again she is set to come to the railways aid in providing diesel trains for passengers on our off peak and diesel days.
Valiant will be repaired well before the railways mega diesel gala which will be held on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July where she will be one of the supporting diesels alongside our Wickham railbus, 0-4-0DM Planet, 0-4-0DM Barclay and of course our resident thumper unit 1133. For more information on the diesel gala check out our special events page and keep an eye out on our latest news page for progress on Valiant’s repairs.
