The Lavender Line
We are very pleased to announce our first goods train day for 2013 which will be taking place on Sunday 28th April.
Our goods train days returned to the Lavender line in 2011 when the railway put together a selection of wagons along with our resident toad brake van and provided passengers with a unique train ride through the Sussex countryside as they experienced what it was like for the guard of a goods train.
Part of our goods set is currently under overhaul with some wagons out of service until completion which means the majority of goods trains during the year will be different each time, our banana van is currently receiving some well earn TLC as it has its brake gear overhauled. Once completed it will be paired with our newly restored tanker and brake vans to make up the first goods train of the year.
Why no take this unique opportunity to take a trip to the Lavender line, ride the brake van behind the goods wagons and experience the raw travelling guards would have done during steams heyday.
Austin 1 will be in charge of the goods train throughout the day, she will also be on the South end of the train giving you the opportunity to take some great photos as she works hard up the hill from Worth halt towards Isfield.
First train departs Isfield at 11.00 and Worth halt at 11.15. Trains run on the hour and half hour with the last train departing Isfield at 4.30 and Worth halt at 4.45
