The Lavender Line
We are delighted to announce that our resident steam engine Austin 1 has been repaired and is set to take charge of the summer steamings. Austin 1 suffered a mechanical failure on Monday 27th May when a section of her motion failed and caused the loco to be unusable. Our team of dedicated volunteers set to work that very week stripping out the damaged parts and within 2 weeks she has been repaired and ready to be tested. Austin 1 has reached the grand old age of 81 this year and as with any old machinery she is becoming more and more at risk of parts failing due to her age. Fortunately we have a great team at the Lavender line who are always prepared for any problems and always prepare Austin1 to a top standard to ensure that any damage is kept to a minimal.
Austin 1 will be steaming this coming Sunday 16th June for Fathers steam engine being out of service for the first steaming of the month we have rearranged the steam service for Fathers day as well as an added treat for Fathers day where all Fathers with paying kids go free!
Why not treat Dad out for a day out in the peace and quiet of the Sussex countryside, Austin 1 will be hauling the steam service for the day with the opportunity to explore Worth woods by alighting at Worth halt. First train departs Isfield at 11.00 and Worth halt at 11.15, trains run on the hour and half hour with last train departing Isfield at 4.30 and Worth halt at 4.45.
