The Lavender Line
Our Permanent way manager and working member Barry Monk has spent countless hours ensuring the railway latest addition the line is going through smoothly. The new cross over is located just past the engine and now links the main running line to the siding which will create a run round loop. This will enable crews to use the one loco when running a round a train, more and more of the railways trains are now running from the south end of the train and with a run round loop this will mean only one engine will be in use when shunting the train. At the moment two engines must be used in order to get a loco to the south end of the train.
Although the cross over is not quite finished there have be running in trials with the Ruston diesel and our toad brake van with very promising results. The P way team have worked extremely hard over the years to get this small project finished and its finally in their sights. Keep an eye out for the new run round cross over on your next visit and see the great job our dedicated P way team have done.
